Do you work or are you a student?

Well, I’m a student at the moment, but I worked as a doctor in my home country and I like to continue my career here. I’m currently studying at the local university, on an Advanced English and IELTS course.

Examiner:       
Tell me about your hometown.

Candidate:   
I’m from Hanoi in the north of Vietnam. It’s the capital city – it has been for a thousand years actually. It’s popular with tourism and many people consider it to be the cultural centre of the country. It has over 600 pagodas and temples, which makes it quite unique. There are also a few really good museums – my favourite is the Vietnamese National History Museum. It’s so interesting and you can spend a long time in there.

Do you plan the things you buy?

Candidate:   
Not always. I spend quite a lot of time online when I’m at home and sometimes I just see something I really want so I buy it without much thought. Of course, this isn’t the case if it’s an expensive item. When I want something that will cost a lot of money, I tend to look into it first, making sure it will work the way I want.
