How you compare

Most players stop at B1

B1 is the typical finishing level, which is roughly IELTS Band 5 to 5.5. Clearing B2 puts you in the range most universities ask for, and reaching C1 puts you ahead of nine players in ten.

Share of players whose game ends at each level. B1 is the average.

What the levels mean

The levels follow the Common European Framework, from A1 at beginner level to C2 at the level of an educated native speaker. Most universities ask for IELTS 6.5, which sits at around B2, and IELTS 7.5 and above is broadly C1.
